Downtown Revitalization
Thompson Turner Construction and Drakeford Architects were hired as the design-build team to renovate the space at 33 North Main Street in downtown Sumter to serve as the new location for Hamptons Restaurant. The renovated facility, next to the Sumter Opera House, was restored to its former glory and the update commercial-grade kitchen shares its space with next door’s La Piazza. The dining room is separate from the kitchen and bar, as it was shared in the old Hamptons space on Hampton Avenue. Upstairs, called “Rafters”, serves cocktails and appetizers at the bar and features a floor-to-ceiling glass wine room and a private dining room faces Main Street that can accommodate up to 14 guests. La Piaza, the adjacent outdoor venue, can hold up to 400 people and has a stage for a band and a green wall behind the 60-foot bar.
